Yesterday, we hiked to Dream Lake. The shortcut trail was snowy and steep but passable. At the lake, the trout were packed into the inlet area in a pre-spawn mode. Kim and I both caught trout but fishing was very slow. We left early and went down to Sprague Lake. The brook and larger brown trout were very cooperative and we released about a dozen fish each in a couple of hours. Largest was a 14″ fat brown trout. We recommend this as there is no shuttle drop off at Sprague so it is deserted with little pressure due to the construction. Go after 4PM and you can drive right in. A cow elk and calf swam out into Sprague and enjoyed the cool water. Get more info at
